Skin care is often overlooked but it is incredibly important to your health and beauty. It isn't hard to have good skin, but you do have to know how to care for it properly. Learn from this advice and see how to best care for your skin.

It's imperative to wear sun protection everyday. A simple way to include it in your daily routine is to use moisturizer or foundation with 15 or greater SPF in it. An proper sunscreen prevents sunburn and in the long-term, wrinkles. Taking this preventative measure will help your skin stay smooth and devoid of wrinkles and fine lines.

If you possess sensitive skin but you enjoy the softening effects of exfoliation, you should skip shower scrubs. Rather, use a dye-free organic cloth to buff your legs, arms and torso after you take a warm bath. This will assure all dead skin is removed without any harsh chemicals damaging your skin.

Get a full night of sleep. The amount of sleep you get can make a real difference to your skin. Without sleep, your skin starts to look lifeless and dull, and you also may have dark circles beneath your eyes. You can also develop more frequent breakouts. This will allow you to feel more awake when you wake up and have a healthier looking complexion.

You can remove dead skin and revive your skin by regularly using a loofah. If you remove the dead skin cells, your blemishes will appear lighter and your skin will look better. Layered dead skin can make you look older. Revitalize your face by sloughing away dead skin.

Always make sure your socks and gloves are dry before putting them on. Your skin may be irritated and you may even suffer eczema if you put on wet socks or gloves.

Select your facial soaps with great caution. Choose a scent and chemical free (glycerin or castile) soap followed by natural toner and light moisturizer for best results.

Include healthy foods in your diet. Diet affects the skin in many ways and can be responsible for the appearance of acne. Any foods that contain high amounts of vitamin C, such as fruits, whole gains, vegetables, and lean meats, are great for keeping your skin young and healthy looking. On the other hand, a diet that is loaded with fats and carbs will have the opposite effect.

Loofah your skin regularly to remove dead skin cells and rejuvenate your skin. By sloughing away dead skin cells, you will reduce the appearance of blemishes and dark spots while stimulating a healthy radiance. Dead skin cells are dry and often rest in crevices, making you look older. Exfoliating dead cells off of your skin will rejuvenate your skin.

It is possible to make your own therapeutic lip balm if you are plagued by irritated, dry lips. Combine sour cream, honey and cucumber, apply to your lips and wait 15 minutes. Next, use warm water to rinse your lips, then lock in moisture by applying almond oil.

Your hands can become dry as a result of being washed, both with soap or without. Each time your hands get wet, moisturize them by applying moisturizing cream once they are dry. This will ensure that you have nice, smooth hands. Keep hand creme with you in the travel size version at all times, especially when shopping.

Try using a moisturizer if you are a normal skin person. All skin needs to be moisturized, even skin that is not currently experiencing dryness. Dehydrated skin looks dry and is more prone to wrinkles.

Apply lip balm every time you go outside, especially if it is cold and dry. Lip balm will also help you protect your lips from harmful rays.

Regardless of your skin type, it is important to practice proper skin care, and to allow your beauty to shine on it's own. It will only take a little bit out of your day to take care of your skin, and it's well worth it as you'll love the results. Use this information to make your skin so healthy that everyone will want to know your secret.

Update on Golf&Venture accident

?

I got a private post from Brian (Golf&Venture) today. He is doing better. He is able to function fairly well on his own, but tires easily, as would be expected. After such a severe accident, and all the broken bones he has, it will take quite awhile. He says he is doing very good on all of his physical therapy.

His '91 VR is toast...totaled out. It was a nice looking bike...emphasis on...was.
He also has an '89 VR that he was in the process of working on, and then decided to buy the '91 VR.

His riding aspirations are a lot in the dump right now, and there are considerations of giving up riding. It is an individual choice, given what he has gone through. He has a wife, daughter, grandkids...to think about.

Let's all keep Brian in our thoughts, and hope he returns to 100%, if possible, and gets back to riding if he can, and if he chooses to.

Deron Williams takes Nets' $98 million deal

(AP) ? Deron Williams is moving to Brooklyn with the Nets, instead of back home to Dallas.

The All-Star point guard said on his Twitter page Tuesday night that he "made a very tough decision today" and posted a picture of the Nets' new team logo that accompanies their move from New Jersey to Brooklyn.

A person with knowledge of the decision said Williams told the team he was accepting their five-year contract worth $98 million. The person confirmed the agreement on condition of anonymity because contracts can't be signed until July 11.

Williams, the top free agent available, chose to stay with the Nets over signing with the Mavericks, who hoped they could convince him to come back to the area where he grew up.

It's a huge triumph for the Nets as they prepare to move into the new Barclays Center to start the 2012-13 season. They gave up an enormous package to get Williams in a surprising February 2011 trade, sending promising forward Derrick Favors, point guard Devin Harris, two first-round draft picks and cash to the Utah Jazz.

But it was worth it for the Nets, who needed a franchise player with them to build buzz for their move to New York.

Williams wanted to make a quick decision before he reports to training camp in Las Vegas with the U.S. men's basketball team on Thursday. He met with both teams Monday, the day after free agency opened, and made his Twitter posting at about 7 p.m. ET.

Williams' decision comes a day after the Nets agreed to a deal with Atlanta for All-Star guard Joe Johnson, and amid reports they are still hoping to make a deal with Orlando for Dwight Howard. Brooklyn also has a deal in place to re-sign versatile free agent forward Gerald Wallace.

Just two years after a 70-loss season, the Nets will have one of the NBA's best backcourts and are poised to make a quick move up the Eastern Conference standings.

Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks had spoken openly about their desire to bring Williams back to North Texas, where he starred at The Colony High School. Mark Cuban's team never made much attempt to defend its 2011 NBA title, letting key players such as Tyson Chandler and J.J. Barea leave through free agency so the Mavs could save money for this summer.

But Dallas could only offer Williams a four-year deal worth about $75 million under the terms of the new collective bargaining agreement. And with the Nets' flurry of moves, may not even be able to offer a better team anymore.

Williams averaged 21 points and 8.7 assists last season and had a 57-point game. One of the league's top point guards since entering the NBA as the No. 3 pick of the Jazz in 2005, he was ahead of his competitors when last season started after playing in Turkey during the lockout.

The Jazz decided to deal him at the 2011 deadline after a clash with former Utah coach Jerry Sloan, and without knowing if Williams would stay there long-term. The Nets had just been stung when the Knicks beat them to acquire Carmelo Anthony from Denver, and the Nets bounced back the next day by landing Williams.

Williams didn't always seem to enjoy playing in New Jersey, with the Nets spending the last two seasons in a temporary home in Newark. But he should play in front of packed crowds in Brooklyn as the main attraction at the Barclays Center.

Singer Frank Ocean reveals first love was a man

(AP) ? Both Anderson Cooper and Frank Ocean made revelations about their sexuality this week, but Ocean's could end up being the more significant announcement.

Ocean ? the rising R&B singer behind the single "Novacane" and the self-released album "nostalgia, ULTRA," which critics heralded as among the best of 2011 ? announced on his Tumblr page Wednesday that his first love was a man. He also tweeted a link to the post.

Earlier this week, CNN's Cooper acknowledged that he was gay. But the admission from the 24-year-old Ocean ? who is part of the hip-hop collective Odd Future and was prominently featured on Jay-Z and Kanye West's "Watch the Throne" album ? is noteworthy because he inhabits the world of rap, where anti-gay sentiments have long been part of the regular vocabulary. Gay epithets are often used in lyrics ? one of Lil Wayne's catch phrases is "no homo."

"I think it's definitely important and it really signifies that there is a changing of the face of hip-hop," said Chuck Creekmur, founder of the leading website allhiphop.com. He called Ocean's announcement "a sign of the times," noting Cooper's announcement and President Barack Obama's recent support of gay marriage.

Ocean wrote: "4 summers ago, I met somebody. I was 19. He was too. We spent that summer, and the summer after, together. Everyday almost. And on the days we were together, time would glide."

Ocean concludes the post: "I don't have any secrets I need to keep anymore. ... I feel like a free man. If I listen closely. I can hear the sky falling too."

While Creekmur stressed that Ocean's announcement did not hold the same weight as if a rapper had come out, he said it was significant that the hip-hop community's initial reaction was positive.

"I don't believe that Frank Ocean revealing his gay experience at the age of 19 will cause a bunch of rappers to come out of the closet. I don't think that we're there yet. I do think that we'll see a lot of support for him. ... I think that it's a process," he said. "Just a few years ago, if this had happened, it could have marked the end of his career. This could mark the beginning of his career."

Creekmur also noted that Odd Future is known for being progressive, despite the fact that its leader ? Tyler, The Creator ? has been fiercely criticized for his use of anti-gay lyrics in songs. GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, criticized Tyler last year and called him "irresponsible."

Tyler expressed support for his friend on Twitter, in typical crude fashion, saying that it was a difficult to acknowledge and that he was proud of him.

Ocean has a new album, "Channel Orange," coming out July 17. Creekmur said it was hard to determine what impact the announcement would have on its sales.

"I think to it could work to his benefit. I think he'll definitely get more sort of praise and acclaim, and it will probably help his sales," he said. "But I think a lot of men will have difficulty singing his songs knowing they may have been penned to another man."

Ocean said he had intended his post to be part of his album credits, but because there have been recent rumors about his sexuality, he decided to post it on his Tumblr page.

"My hope is that the babies born these days will inherit less of the (expletive) than we did," he wrote.

Many Americans have throwback Fourth without power

MOUNT VERNON, Va. (AP) ? George Washington never had air conditioning, but he knew how to keep cool: a mansion with lots of windows elevated on the banks of a wide, rolling river and lots of ice cream, maybe with a little brandy.

It was a little like the old days without electricity Wednesday, as the nation's capital region celebrated Independence Day the better part of a week into a widespread blackout that left millions of residents sweltering in 90-plus degree heat without air conditioning. Utilities have slowly been restoring service knocked out by a freak storm Friday from the Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic, and at least 26 people have died in the storm or its aftermath.

At George Washington's Mount Vernon estate, one of the most popular Fourth of July attractions was a demonstration of 18th-century ice cream making, one of Washington's favorite desserts. Historical interpreters Gail Cassidy and Anette Ahrens showed the crowds how cocoa beans were roasted and ground into a paste for chocolate ice cream, made using ice hauled up in massive blocks from the Potomac River and stored underground to last as long into the summer as possible.

As for beverages, Washington was no stranger to alcohol, enjoying imported Madeira wine from Spain, distilling his own whiskey and enjoying a fruity brandy cocktail called Cherry Bounce.

Washington was his own architect at Mount Vernon, "and he was very good at it," said Dennis Pogue, associate director for preservation at Mount Vernon. The piazza, which runs the length of the mansion, is "kind of California living in the 18th century," Pogue said.

The location, atop a sloping hill along the Potomac, catches cool breezes. Lots of windows and shutters allow for the regulation of sun and wind. And the distinctive cupola on the mansion roof serves as the mansion's air conditioning unit, funneling hot air out the top and drawing cooler air in at the ground level.

Visitors on Wednesday gathered on the mansion's back porch, a piazza overlooking the Potomac where breezes rolled through.

"It feels good out here. It's the same thing we do in Texas," said Chris Moore of Austin, Texas, sitting with his wife, Dina. The two had come to Virginia to see their son graduate from officer training at The Basic School at Quantico Marine Corps Base.

Moore said he opted for the smaller crowds at Mount Vernon as opposed to the massive Fourth of July Celebration on the National Mall because it afforded a better place to relax and contemplate the founding of the nation, especially since Mount Vernon on Wednesday hosted a naturalization ceremony for 100 new citizens from 47 different countries.

"This place is incredible. It's just the kind of place that people need to see," he said, noting the divided nature of the country's current politics. "We all need to step back and look at where we started."

Up the river in Washington, President Barack Obama also attended a naturalization ceremony at the White House, this one for active service members from 17 countries. Military families were invited for a barbecue and to watch fireworks on the South Lawn.

Obama said the varied backgrounds of those taking the oath typified America's long tradition of welcoming immigrants from around the world to its shores.

"Unless you are one of the first Americans, a native American, we are all descended from folks who came from somewhere else," he said. "The story of immigrants in America isn't a story of them. It's a story of us."

Presumptive GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has spent most of the week off the campaign trail with his family in in Wolfeboro, N.H., but took time Wednesday to march in the town's Fourth of July parade.

In New York, about a dozen disabled soldiers ? most triple or quadruple amputees ? visited ground zero ahead of the usual throng of tourists. The visit was intended to salute service members who survived the post-9/11 wars to become miracles of modern medicine, and to promote two charities raising money for homes custom-built to ease their burdens.

On Coney Island, Joey Chestnut ate his way to a sixth straight win at the Fourth of July hot dog eating contest, tying his personal best in a sweaty, gag-inducing spectacle. The 28-year-old nicknamed "Jaws" scarfed down 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes in the sweltering summer heat to take home $10,000 and the mustard-yellow belt.

The city's celebration was expected to capped with the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks show off Manhattan later in the night, with 40,000 aerial shells will be launched from five barges.

Many Americans abandoned their holiday plans after going without power from violent storms that hit Friday across the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest.

Jeanette Oliver had planned to have her relatives over to her Vineland, N.J., home, but the ongoing power outage forced her to change those plans on the fly this week.

"They had been saying most people would have (electrical) service back by Wednesday, but we didn't want to risk having a big party in a home where you couldn't turn on the air conditioning, you couldn't turn on a TV or a computer," Oliver said outside a supermarket early Wednesday. "Several people in our family are elderly, and you don't want them suffering with the heat and being uncomfortable."

Sarah Lenkay and her roommates, who lost power in Columbus, Ohio, Friday evening, didn't have power back until around midnight Wednesday. They weren't too excited about the holiday, because the last few days have been so miserable.
